Leaders want to grow. They want to mature. They want to stay current. However, sometimes you need to find ways to grow that are different then the norm. You can learn in many different ways. I have tried to always be conscious of my need to continue growing as a leader. Here are some ideas from my experiences, that are a little different then you would find in a leadership blog or book.

If you are a leader, then there are times you will be overwhelmed. It seems to come with the title. What do you do when you are in over your head?

No matter how confident and secure you are in your current position, you will probably experience one, if not all, of these scenarios...

Yes, why not? Why not be yourself? Why not go out on a limb and try something new or different? Why not do something that everyone said is impossible? Why not make a fool of yourself and have a good laugh at yourself?

Time is valuable and precious. More valuable then money. Money you can grow. My brother's occupation is in the stock market and he recently said, "I need more money to make money." You can grow money. Time you can not. Time has no interest. There are no do-overs with time. You only get one August 6th, 2014. That day will come and then be gone forever. 

"Hiring an assistant is one of the best decisions you can make as a leader. Why? Because many leaders spend the majority of their time doing things they are not uniquely gifted to do when those things could all be delegated. 

How do you know if you are making the right decision?  I personally know many people who can't make a decision because they desperately want to make sure it is the right one. It is especially challenging when the decision is a very important one.  Maybe you don't suffer from "buyers guilt" or the inability to make decisions. However...

Lies come with leadership and sometimes the biggest enemy to your leadership is…you. In my experience, in any leadership setting it is inevitable that lies will creep in. Almost all of the lies you hear in your leadership are foundationally, “I am more important than I really am.”
