"You are unprepared."

But the word "unprepared" means two things, not just one.

His leadership character was forged in the crucible of suffering and fatigue. Trying times will do that. He brought a nation through the horrors of war and led them with a resilient spirit. His fingerprints are still keenly felt upon the United Kingdom even today.

Being an effective leader is a task not everyone can do. At least not without guidance from mentors, experience, desire to think of others first, and the will to absorb his or her staff’s positive and negative traits. Are you leadership material?

How does a great team member perform on a team? Anyone can talk about a great team member but what about the performance characteristics I believe make a great team member. How do they act on the team?

In a time of organizations and teams we are seeing companies reward executives for doing more with less. As a consequences, we are seeing managers and bosses focus on doing rather than leading. They are caring about the moment rather than the culture. Leading is about building relationships within and outside the organization.

I love leadership. I feel called to it. I realize the need for good leadership, but the fact is that leadership is hard.

The following is a review of the movie before it comes out. My objective of this post is not to spoil anything for you, however give you a reason (or not) to see this movie. 

The problem with problems is that they always keep us from focusing on opportunities, on a chance to contribute and to make something better. Focus on our opportunities doesn't mean the problems don't exist, it merely means...

“We take care of our people—the whole person that comes into work every day,” she said. “It’s the employer that we want to be—it feels right. It feels balanced. And it could probably be more.”

The glitch is in how we define the last minute. We can't make the feeling go away, but we can be clear about when the last minute occurs. And for professionals, it must occur before the deadline. Because they call it a deadline for a reason. So what to do with your last minute... 

 “Make sure they know who is boss.”

As leaders do, we need to remind people that we are the boss?  That we are in control? Are we in a place of authority or are we an Authoritarian.
