Coach JT Ayers is a three-time Orange County Track Coach of the Year recipient, earning the honor in 2013, 2016, and 2019. He has coached track and field for 18 years and returned to his alma mater, Trabuco Hills High School, in 2014 to serve as Head Coach of the boys’ track and field program.

Since taking over the program, Coach Ayers has helped build Trabuco Hills into one of the premier track and field programs in Orange County and California. Under his leadership, his athletes have broken 18 school records, 102 grade-level records, and 4 all-time Orange County records. The boys’ team has been ranked #1 in Orange County six different years — 2015, 2016, 2018, 2020, 2023, and 2026 — and was voted the Best Orange County Program of the Century. Trabuco Hills has also won the last seven South Coast League titles.

In 2022, Coach Ayers began coaching the girls’ sprints and relays. Since then, his athletes have broken 10 school records, set 7 grade-level records, and produced 35 all-time top-10 marks in school history. The girls’ team has also won the last three South Coast League titles.

Coach Ayers earned his B.A. in History from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, along with his Teaching Credential and Master’s in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University Irvine. Most importantly, Coach Ayers is a husband and father of four children, three of whom attend Trabuco Hills High School.
